Issue

North Star Alliances is a longstanding partner to the YMCA Metropolitan Los Angeles, an organization that has served the greater Los Angeles region for over 130 years, and has 26 branches across Los Angeles County, from Antelope Valley to San Pedro.

Solution

For about 10 years North Star Alliances has provided counsel to the organization, acting as a community events manager, and supporting their efforts in building strategic corporate, nonprofit, and community partnerships with key stakeholders across the Los Angeles region. Examples of North Star Alliances' work include:

• Managing and executing community events elevating the YMCA’s programming and membership opportunities.
• Facilitating a strategic partnership between L.A. Care - the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan - and the YMCA in an effort to identify local facilities available for lease.
• Introducing the YMCA to local public affairs firms that have the capacity and expertise to assist them with large-scale public affairs projects.
• Coordinating a meeting between The Coca-Cola Company and the YMCA to discuss opportunities for donations and a long-term sponsorship.

Results

With North Star Alliances' support, the YMCA Metropolitan Los Angeles has effectively advanced their overall community initiatives and seen increases in financial contributions from partners over the years. Today, the YMCA Metropolitan Los Angeles has over 200 community partners, including schools, hospitals, cities and other civic organizations.
